What VerifyID reads from the document

Name, dates, document number, and the check digits.

For passports and ID cards with machine-readable lines, VerifyID reads the name, document number, nationality, date of birth, sex and expiry date, and validates every check digit. A failed check digit is a sign of alteration and sends the case to review. An expired document fails.

For cards without machine-readable lines, the printed text is read on a best-effort basis and flagged as such. The data is returned in the API response, the webhook payload and on the result page.
